What to Wear to KitKat Berlin (From Someone Who Actually Goes)
Every week I get DMs from people asking me: "What do I wear to KitKat?" I'm Polly - I design lingerie in this city, and KitKatClub is part of why my brand exists. This is the guide I wish someone had handed me before my first night.
The short answer: the dress code is fetish, extravagant, or (nearly) naked. Mesh, lingerie worn as an outfit, latex, leather, harnesses, bodysuits, chains, skin. White sneakers or jeans will get you turned away at the door. Everything below is the long answer: what actually works, what gets people rejected, and how it differs depending on which night you go.
The KitKat dress code, explained in one paragraph
The door wants to see that you understand what kind of night you're walking into and that you came to be part of it. That means: show effort and intention.
What works: mesh, lingerie as outerwear, latex, leather, vinyl, harnesses, bodysuits, corsets, chains and body jewellery, glitter, skin.
What doesn't: jeans, plain t-shirts, white sneakers, streetwear, regular underwear.
It depends on the night: KitKat's parties explained
Not every night at KitKat is the same party, and the dress code can be quite different. Check the event page before you plan your outfit - but here's the map:
- Saturday (CarneBall Bizarre): the original KitKat party and the strictest door. This is the night the dress code was written for. Go full look: fetish, lingerie, latex.
- Friday (changing parties): can be more colourful, playful, expressive. Slightly more room for creative interpretation.
- Wednesday (SYMBIOTIKKA): the softer entry point if it's your first time. Still a dress code, still effort required - but the crowd skews curious and the vibe is welcoming.
One evergreen disclaimer: parties, themes and door policies evolve. Always check the official event listing for the night you're going.
3 outfit formulas that always work
If you want to skip the overthinking, pick one of these. Each is a complete answer to the door.
1. The lingerie set
A sheer mesh bra and brief, worn as the outfit - not under anything. Lingerie is literally outerwear at KitKat. But leave your old Victoria's Secret or grandma panties at home.
nghty look: I specifically designed the PRISMA and VICE sets to work as full KitKat outfits. Wear them to dinner under a blazer or top, then take everything off once you enter the club.
2. The bodysuit
A sheer bodysuit with bare legs or fishnet tights. Add boots you can dance in and you're done. This is the most Berlin answer there is: minimal, intentional, comfortable for eight hours.
nghty look: the High Cut Mesh Bodysuit in black or red is my most worn KitKat look. Super comfortable all night and easy to accessorize since it's so simple. If you're looking for a full look with no further accessories needed, go for the PHANTOM Bodysuit with just boots.
3. Accessories
A body chain, choker, harness, sheer dress… with minimal clothing you can focus on fun accessories and wear the stuff you wouldn't dare to wear anywhere else.
nghty look: check out the CHOKEHOLD soft harness. It's our take on the staple kinky accessory - but instead of leather, we're using soft fabrics to make it easier and more comfortable to wear all night.
What to bring (and what happens to your phone)
- Cash. Entry and drinks - cards are not a thing here.
- Your phone gets locked away. Phones are taboo inside; this is a feature, not a bug - it's why people are free and you can really get lost in the moment.
- A small bag for e.g. cash, lipstick, protection, gum.
- Shoes you can dance in. I usually wear my favorite black leather boots.
- Layers for the way home. A big coat over very little is the official Berlin walk-of-fame uniform. You can also wear a normal outfit and change into your KitKat look there. The Garderobe (coat check) exists precisely so you can arrive dressed and transform inside.
What NOT to do
- Wear too much. It honestly gets very hot inside (and I'm actually talking about the temperature, not all the activities), so plan an outfit that works in the heat.
- Wear something you feel uncomfortable in. If fetish and latex wear is not your thing, find something else. It's about feeling good and free, not forcing yourself into a role you don't feel comfortable in.
- Disrespect the consent culture. The house motto is about communication: ask first and accept every no. It's what makes the freedom possible.
- Stress about your body. Every age, every shape, every gender is inside. Nobody is judging - genuinely nobody. That's the point of the place.
FAQ
Do I have to wear fetish gear?
No. Lingerie, mesh, or any committed extravagant look works. But you should wear something that fits the night.
Can I wear lingerie to KitKat?
Yes, lingerie worn as an outfit is one of the most common and safest choices at the door, especially for women.
Do you have to be naked at KitKat?
No. Some people are (partly); you never have to be. Wear whatever level of coverage you're comfortable with, as long as it's within the dress code.
What shoes should I wear?
Anything you can dance in for eight hours. Boots are the safest answer. Heels work if they're the kind you actually survive in. Don't wear white sneakers.
Is there a coat check?
Yes, it's free and you'll most likely have to use it. Most people arrive in normal clothes and change or strip down at the Garderobe. You also leave your phone there if you brought it.
Is KitKat safe for women going alone?
The honest answer: KitKat has one of the strictest, most actively enforced consent cultures of any club anywhere, and many women go solo. Unfortunately, you can never be 100% sure. But me and my female friends have never had any negative experiences (especially compared to all the other night clubs we have been to) and I have always felt safe.
